Few have contributed more to Carroll ISD’s success and tradition than Chauncey Willingham. For more than 40 years, he served the district in multiple roles in coaching, administration and facilities. He has years of sweat and dedication invested in nearly every Carroll athletic program and campus. He thrived as head coach for girls basketball producing numerous playoff teams and college bound athletes. Chauncey lead the cross country and track teams for more over 10 years. He has also served as athletic director and head boys basketball coach as well as an assistant coach for swim, baseball, football and tennis. He has served as a principal and retired as Director of Facilities for Carroll ISD in 2014. He was inducted into the Carroll Athletic Hall of Honor in 2013. His respect for the district and the families in it is legendary. He saw his students as more than athletes. He was more concerned with making an impact in each student’s life to help them succeed as people rather than excelling in the athletic arena. He left a tremendous legacy in our district and on countless young Dragon lives. Chauncey Willingham was the unanimous choice for the inaugural award for Outstanding Faculty Member.
